Sitaare Zameen Par Sets April 3 SonyLIV Debut After Planned Theatrical Window

The move signals a shift from Aamir Khan’s pay-per-view experiment to a wider streaming release.

Overview

  • Aamir Khan, speaking Friday at the International Film Festival Delhi, confirmed the SonyLIV launch for April 3 through PTI.
  • He said an online window was always planned after a longer gap from cinemas to keep focus on the big-screen run first.
  • SonyLIV will also premiere Sitaaron Ke Sitaare, a documentary that profiles the parents of the film’s 10 neurodivergent first-time actors.
  • The streaming date follows his July 2025 pay-per-view release on his YouTube channel, when he rejected reported Rs 125 crore OTT bids to charge viewers about Rs 100 per watch.
  • Directed by R S Prasanna and co-starring Genelia Deshmukh, the 2025 film earned about Rs 265 crore worldwide and has been framed as a spiritual follow-up to Taare Zameen Par.
