Overview
- Singapore’s SP Group set new household electricity rates on Tuesday, lifting the April to June tariff to 27.27 cents per kWh before GST and adding about S$1.80 to the average monthly bill for a four-room HDB flat.
- City Energy fixed the household town gas tariff at 21.92 cents per kWh before GST for April 1 to June 30, up 0.24 cents from the prior quarter.
- EMA said regulated tariffs use average fuel costs from the first 2.5 months of the previous quarter, so prices that spiked after Feb 28 only partly feed into the April to June rates.
- The regulator warned of further and potentially sharper increases later in 2026 as fuel costs stay elevated due to Middle East disruptions, with many retail electricity contract renewals likely to come at higher prices.
- About 95% of Singapore’s power is generated from imported natural gas, which ties local energy bills to global markets, and even LPG cylinder prices are rising as some suppliers hold hawker-centre rates to shield stallholders.
