Siena Poll Shows Mamdani Popular in NYC but Deeply Unpopular in Suburbs

  • The Siena College poll reported Aug. 12–13 of 811 likely New York voters found Zohran Mamdani 47% favorable and 44% unfavorable statewide.
  • The poll’s New York City cross‑tab of roughly 227 respondents showed 69% favorable and 24% unfavorable for Mamdani while suburban voters rated him 34% favorable and 60% unfavorable.
  • The Democratic Socialists of America scored much lower statewide with 30% favorable and 47% unfavorable, showing Mamdani’s personal ratings outpaced his organization’s.
  • The survey revealed sharp demographic divides: near 80% support from Black voters and about 72% from ages 18–34, contrasted with roughly 66% unfavorable among Jewish respondents and higher negatives among voters 55 and older.
