Sheriff’s Office Releases Video, Seeks Help in Killing of 14-Year-Old

Investigators say the footage may identify a black sedan tied to a mistaken‑identity gang shooting and lead to tips from people who live near Main and 108th streets.

Overview

  • Fourteen-year-old Elijah Le'chon Novelle Davenport was shot while sitting in a parked car in the 13100 block of Jarvis Avenue on Feb. 28, 2025, and later died at a hospital.
  • Homicide detectives concluded the shooter misidentified Elijah as a rival gang member and say an occupant of a black four-door sedan fired multiple shots into the driver’s side.
  • On Aug. 10, 2026 the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department published security camera video of the sedan, traced its post-shooting route north on Main Street and said the car did not go past 108th Street.
  • Elijah’s mother and sister held a news conference urging the public to come forward and the department asked residents to submit surveillance, dash-cam or cellphone footage or call homicide detectives at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
  • The case remains unsolved more than a year after the killing and investigators say renewed community tips and local video are the best lead to identify suspects and move the investigation forward.
