Sheriff Takes Over Lopez Lake Search as Dive, Drone Teams Continue Monday

The search continued Monday at Lopez Lake for a man reported to be 24 or 25 who went missing after falling into the water late Sunday afternoon.
The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is now leading the operation and deployed dive and drone teams after taking over from fire crews Sunday evening.
Witnesses reported the submersion before 4:30 p.m., prompting an initial full water-rescue response by CAL FIRE SLO and county fire.
Supporting agencies include a helicopter, San Luis Ambulance, SLO County Parks, Pismo Beach Lifeguards, and the Sheriff's Dive Team.
Boats, jet skis, paddleboards, drones, and rescue swimmers remain in use, with the public asked to avoid the area and the boat launch closed while other park activities stay open.
