Shah Launches Delhi Safe City Phase I, Dedicates ₹857-Crore C4I, Lays E-Foundation for Special Cell HQ

The Home Minister linked the upgrades to raising conviction rates under new criminal laws.

Overview

  • About 2,100 AI-enabled cameras are now live toward a 10,000-camera plan, with roughly 15,000 existing CCTV feeds integrated into Delhi Police’s new Safe City network.
  • A central C4I command centre costing about ₹857 crore was dedicated and will link 11 district-level C3I hubs and 75 police station C2I units for real-time coordination.
  • An integrated Special Cell headquarters with a projected cost of ₹368 crore received its digital foundation stone and will include an indoor firing range, war room, cyber labs and training facilities.
  • Shah also laid foundation stones for 10 additional Delhi Police projects as the force emphasized tech-driven policing to strengthen surveillance and rapid response.
  • Framing the push as part of wider security reforms, Shah claimed violence in Jammu & Kashmir, the North-East and Maoist-hit areas has fallen by about 80% and projected higher conviction rates of roughly 75–80% under the new criminal laws.
