Overview
- Video and a June 10 town hall show officers tried to stop a Toyota after an automated license-plate reader linked it to an armed robbery and then pursued it through the city before it struck a median near Bayshore Boulevard and Jerrold Avenue.
- According to the footage and police briefing, the driver exited the crashed car and immediately fired at officers, who returned fire; Officer Brittney Taylor and the vehicle passenger were struck and taken to hospital.
- Officer Brittney Taylor required emergency surgery and is in serious but stable condition while the passenger, identified as Ariunsanaa Dolgorsuren, is also receiving medical care and faces charges.
- The driver, identified as 36-year-old Norris Reed III of Oakland, fled on foot, was arrested inside the gated Bayshore Navigation Center after a tip, and was booked on multiple felony counts after officers recovered a .40-caliber Glock 23 and a 9mm privately manufactured handgun.
