Sex Offender Jailed for Threatening to Stab Transport Police

The sentence follows a targeted manhunt and prosecution intended to deter violent abuse of officers.

Overview

  • Ahmed was sentenced to six months at Inner London Crown Court on Friday after pleading guilty to threatening communications, possession of cannabis and a public order offence.
  • During a nearly 14-minute call to the British Transport Police on 27 May he threatened to stab officers, vowed to use acid and made sexually violent threats toward women and children.
  • Detectives note Ahmed had been convicted in late 2020 of sexual assaults on two women on the London Underground and was previously jailed for two years and two months.
  • BTP’s Major, Serious and Organised Crime team tracked and arrested Ahmed in west London on 29 May after a manhunt; officers say he continued to abuse staff and told interviewers a 'red mist' came over him.
  • The Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charges and BTP said the arrest, prosecution and sentence show it will pursue violent threats against call handlers and frontline staff, a move that could increase resource-led responses to similar abuse.
