Overview
- A man in his 60s was seriously injured in an assault on Main Street in Portarlington at about 1.15am on Sunday and was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin for treatment.
- Investigating Gardaí arrested a man in his 40s and are holding him under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Co Laois for questioning.
- Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the Main Street area between 12:45am and 1:30am to come forward and to provide any video footage, including dash-cam recordings.
