Series of Deadly Road Crashes Across Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka Leave Multiple Dead

Authorities have opened parallel investigations that point to speeding and low visibility as early factors.

Overview

  • On the Gola–Lakhimpur National Highway in Lakhimpur Kheri, four family members died when their car was struck by an unidentified vehicle, and police said dense fog is suspected as a factor, with two relatives surviving with minor injuries.
  • Near Jigaluru Cross in Karnataka’s Gadag district, a cruiser carrying workers collided with a canter linked to SRP Logistics, killing three women and injuring more than a dozen, as the district SP inspected the site and victims were referred to hospitals.

  • Separate crashes included two deaths after trucks collided in Amethi, two deaths in a car–truck head-on in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur, and one death in Etah where police detained the truck driver and registered a case.
