Overview
- The Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) confirmed there is no nationwide suspension of classes for Friday, May 22, and students in preescolar, primaria and secundaria should attend as usual.
- The SEP also confirmed an official nationwide suspension for students on Friday, May 29 for the monthly Consejo Técnico Escolar when teachers meet for planning and evaluation.
- Teacher union actions are producing local disruptions: CNTE Section 22 in Oaxaca announced an indefinite strike starting May 25 that will close many schools in that state and officials warned other sections could cause further regional suspensions.
- Individual schools may hold internal celebrations or adjust schedules for the Day of the Student without changing the federal calendar, so any local closures should be confirmed directly with school administrations or SEP notices.
- The DOF-published SEP calendar sets the national last day of classes as Wednesday, July 15, and parents are advised to rely on official SEP communications and prepare for possible local strike-related closures on May 25 and the CTE day on May 29.
