Sehat Card Relaunched to Extend Cashless Care to 10 Million in Islamabad, AJK and GB

The reboot will be tracked through independent monitoring under direct prime ministerial oversight.

Overview

  • Free, cashless treatment has been restored for residents of the federal capital, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan after a three-year lapse in the federal areas.
  • Officials say nearly 10 million people are expected to benefit from the revived Prime Minister’s Health Card programme.
  • About 70 hospitals are being empanelled across the three regions, including roughly 20 additional facilities in Islamabad.
  • Cardholders from these areas can also access care at 16 designated hospitals in Karachi.
  • Coverage has not yet started in Sindh, where a Rs24 billion two-year proposal targeting 10 districts has been presented with a goal of self-sustainability by year three.
