SEGA Schedules Crazy Taxi: World Tour Multiplayer Network Test

The publisher will run a short September test to verify online stability, matchmaking and cross-play before the game’s planned 2027 launch.

Overview

  • SEGA opened registrations through August 31 for a closed network test that will run from September 11 at 5:00 p.m. PT to September 13 at 5:00 p.m. PT and invite a small number of players.
  • The test will focus only on online multiplayer and offer two modes, Pickup Race and Cops ’N’ Cabbies, playable as Ranked or Custom matches to exercise matchmaking and server load.
  • Participants will be able to access two maps, four characters and six cars with tune-up options while using cross-play between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam and Xbox on PC.
  • Registration requires a SEGA account, applicants must be at least 13 years old, participation is limited to selected regions, and some outlets report the test will not include Switch 2 access.
  • SEGA also released a West Coast trailer confirming licensed storefronts such as IHOP and Amoeba Music and reiterated a commitment to replace previously reported generative-AI art assets before the final 2027 release.
