Second Suspect in 2025 Lawrence Shooting Arrested in Maine During Welfare Check

He is held in Cumberland County Jail pending return to Massachusetts on murder and firearms charges.

Overview

  • Deputies conducting a welfare check on Bridgton Road in Baldwin found Jean Michael Warner Delgado in a vehicle, initially appearing unresponsive, then identified him as a fugitive with a homicide warrant.
  • Authorities say Delgado, 20, is charged in connection with the Sept. 13, 2025 shooting on Essex Street in Lawrence that killed 27-year-old Hugo Delrosario.
  • Delgado was taken into custody on a Massachusetts warrant and is awaiting extradition, with arraignment to follow upon his return, officials said.
  • The case also involves a previously arrested suspect, Hector J. Mota of Haverhill, who was arraigned in January and is being held without bail.
  • In December, Lawrence police issued a missing-person bulletin for Delgado without naming him a suspect, and it remains unclear whether he has an attorney.
