Overview
- Chicago police said Jeron Tate, 18, was charged Friday with armed robbery, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery and unlawful restraint in the Family Dollar holdup tied to the hospital shooting.
- Judge D’Anthony Thedford on Thursday ordered Alphanso Talley jailed pending trial on first-degree murder, attempted murder and other felonies after prosecutors detailed the hospital attack.
- Prosecutors say the Saturday robbery left a 55-year-old clerk pistol-whipped and that GPS-tagged cash led officers to Talley, who later claimed he swallowed drugs and was taken to Swedish Hospital.
- In the CT area, Talley was uncuffed for a scan and, according to prosecutors, produced a 10mm handgun believed to be the same one used in the robbery, killing Officer John Bartholomew and wounding his partner before fleeing naked and being found under a porch with the gun.
- Internal affairs is investigating pre-hospital searches of Talley, federal prosecutors charged a woman with buying the 10mm Glock for a prohibited person, Bartholomew’s partner is improving, and visitation and funeral services are set for May 7 and 8 at St. Andrew’s Greek Orthodox Church.
