Second Recall in Two Weeks: Penny Pulls Zwiebelmettwurst After STEC Detected

A single-sample STEC finding in batch L006101 triggered a precautionary withdrawal coordinated with authorities.

Overview

  • OVO Vertriebs GmbH recalled Meisterklasse Schinken-Zwiebelmettwurst 200 g with batch L006101 and use-by date 24.03.2026 after routine testing found Shigatoxin-producing E. coli in one sample.
  • The affected packs were sold at Penny and have been removed from sale across most German states, with coverage reported for all except Thuringia and Schleswig-Holstein.
  • Consumers are urged not to eat the specified batch and can return it to any Penny store for a full refund without a receipt.
  • This action follows an earlier recall on 12 March of batch L04804 with use-by date 12.03.2026 due to a Salmonella detection in the same product line.
  • Penny says the removal was voluntary and preventive, taken in consultation with authorities, and further analyses are underway before deciding on future deliveries; customer queries can be directed to 069 420982-991 during business hours.
