- In the earlier case, 34-year-old Grant Parker was found hanging in his cell on March 8 and was declared dead at a hospital on March 10 after lifesaving efforts.
- Parker had been arrested on Feb. 14 on charges of murder and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, and he was housed alone at the time he was found.
- Standard reviews are underway, the Citizens’ Law Enforcement Review Board has been notified, and the deaths renew scrutiny following a 2022 state audit and a $500 million jail modernization pledge questioned by advocates.
