Search for Missing Atlanta Teen Benjamin Braithwaite Enters Fourth Day

Investigators report no confirmed leads during a fourth day of searches.

Overview

  • Atlanta police are using helicopters, K-9s, drones and ground teams in Southwest Atlanta, and the effort, which began after the 16-year-old left home Monday night, remains active with no confirmed leads.
  • Students, staff and family held an afternoon rally at KIPP Atlanta Collegiate on Friday, followed by a prayer service at Cascade United Methodist Church that drew about 100 people.
  • Relatives pleaded for Benjamin’s return on his father’s birthday, and his brother William “BJ” Braithwaite Jr. said the family has received some tips.
  • Benjamin was last seen leaving the Regency Trace area near County Line Road wearing a black hoodie, black joggers and Nike shoes, and his family says he left without his phone or other belongings.
  • Community groups plan more searches through the weekend, including a 10 a.m. Saturday canvass near the Regency subdivision, and authorities urge tips to Atlanta Police or Crime Stoppers.
