Scorpions 'Pixel of Rock' Mosaic Unveiled in Hannover

Free public viewing begins at Peppermint-Park-Studios.

Overview

  • The 20-by-5-meter installation comprises 158,400 tiles made from 1,000 previously unpublished concert photos shot by longtime band photographer Marc Theis.
  • The work debuted at a vernissage at the Peppermint Pavillon and was presented as likely the world’s largest photo mosaic, with about 250 guests including Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs.
  • The exhibition My World of Music opens to the public today from 12:00 to 16:00, then runs April 3 to May 31 on Fridays (18:00–20:00) and Saturdays (12:00–16:00) with free admission.
  • Peppermint-Park-Studios on Hannover’s Expo grounds hosts the display, a venue where the Scorpions recorded Unbreakable (2004) and Rock Believer (2022).
  • After the show ends on May 31, organizers plan to cut the piece into roughly 30-by-30-centimeter segments for sale at €150 each via www.pixel-of-rock.de.
