Overview
- Scaffolding and protective scrim were visible on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror facade on Thursday as exterior work moved from queue repairs to higher sections above the gift shop.
- Disney filed a construction permit for the project and has contracted MLC Theming to perform portions of the exterior preservation work.
- The company says the project is cosmetic and maintenance-focused and does not involve an internal overhaul or storyline changes, and both the ride and its gift shop remain open to guests.
- Refurbishment began in early May with work in the exterior queue and the removal of decorative flags, and crews have also cordoned off a small damaged tile outside the gift shop for repair during the current work.
- The project follows Disney’s routine of preserving intentionally weathered theming by refreshing paint and details now to prevent larger problems later and to keep guest disruption to a minimum.
