Overview

  • A yellow level 1 warning for damaging coastal winds is in effect on Friday morning between Port Edward and KwaDukuza in KwaZulu-Natal, with small vessels at risk.
  • A yellow level 2 alert for disruptive rain on Thursday targets northwestern Limpopo, where heavy downpours could cause localised flooding and longer travel times.
  • Extremely high fire danger is flagged for parts of the Northern Cape and southern Free State on Friday, following broader fire-risk alerts across interior regions this week.
  • A heat wave is advised for Eastern Cape districts, including Sarah Baartman, Chris Hani, Joe Gqabi, Alfred Nzo, OR Tambo and Amathole, from 24–29 January.
  • Gauteng is set for a warm to hot weekend with highs reaching the low 30s and a low chance of afternoon or evening thundershowers, with UV levels rated high.
