Overview
- For Sunday, 1 March, SAWS issued yellow level 2 alerts for severe thunderstorms over KwaZulu-Natal, the Free State and North West with heavy downpours, hail, excessive lightning and damaging winds.
- Marine alerts include a yellow level 2 warning for damaging waves from Alexander Bay to Plettenberg Bay, with risks to coastal infrastructure and navigation through Monday morning.
- Extremely high fire danger is expected on Sunday in parts of the southern Free State, the south-eastern Northern Cape, the extreme south-west of North West, the northern Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.
- On Saturday, 28 February, yellow level 2 thunderstorm warnings covered the North West, southern Gauteng, north-western KwaZulu-Natal, the southern Highveld and escarpment of Mpumalanga and the northern Free State.
- Additional Saturday advisories included a yellow level 1 alert for damaging winds in the south-eastern Northern Cape, high to extreme UVB indices in several regions and hot, humid conditions along parts of the Eastern Cape’s Wild Coast.
