Saudi Pro League Finalises 2026–27 Roshn League Framework

The plan lays out dates, match totals and fairness rules to manage an unusually compressed calendar caused by club competitions and the 2027 AFC Asian Cup

Overview

  • The SPL finalised the season framework on Friday, July 24, confirming the campaign will run from August 13, 2026 to May 29, 2027 with 34 rounds and 306 matches.
  • League officials said overlapping commitments — eight clubs in four international tournaments, FIFA windows, national team fixtures and the AFC Asian Cup host duties — left just 102 available matchdays to schedule 306 league games.
  • The fixture process uses 10 formal criteria to protect fairness, including no more than two straight home or away games, one home and one away in the first two and last two rounds, and a guaranteed minimum two days’ rest between consecutive matches.
  • Clubs were placed into four competitive tiers based on results from the past three seasons with heavier weight on the most recent campaign to spread top matchups and stop any team facing a Level A opponent in back-to-back rounds.
  • The league completed the schedule after a club workshop and venue checks and says the full match-by-match calendar will be published imminently so teams, stadiums and fans can finalise travel and operations.
