Saud Abdulhamid’s Passport Stolen, Delaying His Arrival to Saudi World Cup Camp

SAFF says it has asked Dutch police and Saudi diplomats to investigate the theft and to secure emergency travel documents so he can join the squad in the United States.

Overview

  • Saud Abdulhamid was the victim of a vehicle break-in in Amsterdam that resulted in the theft of his passport and other personal items, preventing him from travelling to join the national team.
  • The Saudi Arabian Football Federation has notified the Ministry of Sport and is working with Dutch authorities and the Saudi embassy in the Netherlands to follow up on the police investigation.
  • SAFF is seeking emergency travel documents through diplomatic channels to enable Abdulhamid, who plays on loan at RC Lens from AS Roma, to travel to the team’s U.S. training camps.
  • The rest of the Saudi squad has already moved to the United States for preparation camps in New York and Texas and will play friendlies against Ecuador, Puerto Rico, and Senegal.
  • Saudi Arabia will compete in Group H at the 2026 World Cup with Spain, Uruguay, and Cape Verde, and officials say resolving travel documents quickly is the priority to restore the team’s full roster.
