Satellite Images Confirm Israeli Strikes Wrecked Iranian F-14s at Isfahan

U.S. Central Command now tracks steep drops in Iranian missile and drone attacks after extensive strikes.

Overview

  • Commercial satellite images from Vantor dated March 9 show visible wreckage of at least two F-14 Tomcats on the apron at the 8th Tactical Air Base in Isfahan.
  • The Israeli military said March 8 it struck F-14s at Isfahan, following strikes two days earlier that hit more than a dozen Iranian aircraft at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport.
  • Imagery indicates additional damage at Isfahan, including attacked F-7s and a large scorch mark where one F-14 had been parked.
  • Adm. Brad Cooper said U.S. forces have hit more than 5,500 targets inside Iran and assessed ballistic missile and drone attacks have fallen by 90% and 83%, respectively.
  • Iran operates the last F-14 fleet and is believed to have only a few dozen airframes, making confirmed losses notable, while the war has caused hundreds of deaths and disrupted travel and oil markets.
