SAT Extends Office Hours as Mexico’s April 30 Tax Deadline Nears

Longer office hours aim to ease late‑April backlogs.

Overview

  • The tax authority widened in‑person service nationwide to 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the final days of April to help people file on time, and it has reaffirmed there is no extension beyond April 30.
  • Many individuals must file for fiscal year 2025, including those with salaries over 400,000 pesos, multiple employers, business or professional income, rent, interest or dividends, or sales of assets.
  • If a digital signature (e‑firma) expired, people can renew online within one year, renew in person if older than a year, or log in with or recover their password through SAT‑ID to submit the return.
  • Eligible filers with a refund can use the automatic scheme through July 31, 2026, which requires a bank CLABE in the taxpayer’s name and the right login method, with passwords allowed up to 10,000 pesos and e‑firma required from 10,001 to 150,000 pesos, while higher amounts or cases like co‑ownership, marital partnership or succession must use the manual FED process.
  • The SAT reports faster payouts this year with average deposits in about three days and warns that it does not send SMS about refunds, while those who miss the filing date risk fines that can exceed 25,000 pesos.
