Sarmiento Line Suspends Once–Liniers Trains April 2–5

The restriction enables track and signal upgrades after weeks of service instability.

Overview

  • Trenes Argentinos, which confirmed Tuesday, will run electric trains only between Liniers and Moreno from Thursday, April 2, through Sunday, April 5, with diesel services keeping their usual schedules.
  • The works include replacing track switches known as AdVs 10 and 11 in Caballito, renewing the signaling system, and advancing an underpass on Lorca Street with related excavation.
  • Crews will also place new track panels on the two main lines and install concrete-sleeper track near Irigoyen Street in Villa Luro.
  • The operator said bad weather could halt the plan and asked riders to check the service status before they travel.
  • Local reports say this is the eighth service change on the Once–Moreno branch in two months after a recent Haedo freight derailment blamed on poor track highlighted wider maintenance concerns.
