Santiago de Compostela Airport to Close 23 April–27 May for €31m Runway Upgrade

Passengers face cancellations and rebooking during the full shutdown.

Overview

  • The airport will stop all flights from Thursday, April 23 to Wednesday, May 27 for runway resurfacing, AENA said.
  • Ryanair, British Airways, Vueling and Iberia services will be canceled or moved because no takeoffs or landings are allowed.
  • About 30 UK-bound flights a week and typical loads of around 180 passengers point to roughly 4,500 British travelers affected.
  • AENA urges passengers to contact their airline for status and rebooking, with alternatives including Santiago–Rosalía de Castro about 42 miles north and Vigo about 61 miles south.
