San Jose State Star Danny Scudero, FBS Receiving Leader, Enters Transfer Portal

The redshirt sophomore has two seasons of eligibility, making him a prime target once the portal opens Jan. 2.

Overview

  • Scudero capped 2025 with 88 receptions for 1,291 yards and 10 touchdowns, earning first-team All-Mountain West and Biletnikoff semifinalist honors.
  • He retains two years of NCAA eligibility after one season at San Jose State, following two seasons at Sacramento State.
  • His breakout slate included 189 yards in the opener against Central Michigan and a career-high 215 yards with two touchdowns versus Hawai'i, plus a nation-leading 16 catches of 30-plus yards.
  • ESPN projects he will be among the most sought-after wide receivers available when the transfer portal window opens on Jan. 2.
  • Head coach Ken Niumatalolo said many schools are pursuing Scudero and acknowledged San Jose State cannot match top financial offers after a 3-9 season with the No. 14 passing offense.
