Overview
- Police arrested Davit Martinez, 32, after a Sunday standoff in East San Jose where he allegedly assaulted a family member, brandished a machete, barricaded himself, then surrendered, and they booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
- Detectives had linked three unprovoked assaults to the same suspect and secured a warrant in early March during an active search.
- The attacks began February 23 at a gym on the 2300 block of McKee Road, where an elderly man was punched, pulled down, and beaten until he lost consciousness.
- A second assault on March 8 in a supermarket parking lot on the same block left another elderly man with injuries that required stitches, and a third on March 9 at a medical facility on the 1900 block of Monterey Road left a man unconscious.
