San Francisco to Launch July 4 Fireworks From Golden Gate Bridge

City officials say the display will mark the nation's 250th birthday, triggering bridge closures, parking shutdowns, strict transit advisories.

Overview

  • Mayor Daniel Lurie announced on Monday that fireworks will be launched from the Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday, July 4, with the show set to begin at about 9:30 p.m.
  • City plans call for pyrotechnics to be fired from the east side of the bridge between its two towers, supported by two barges in the bay with one positioned near Pier 39.
  • Officials will fully close the bridge to traffic starting around 8:30 p.m. on July 4 and restrict the east sidewalk for staging from July 3 at 5 a.m. through July 5 at 5 a.m.
  • Parking lots at Marina Green and Crissy Field will be closed from 6 a.m. July 4 through 6 a.m. July 5 and south‑end bridge lots will close from 11 a.m. on July 4, while the city urges use of public transit and names Crissy Field, Marina Green and Pier 39 as suggested viewing sites.
  • The event is the city's only official Fourth of July fireworks show in 2026, it is only the third time fireworks will launch from the bridge after 1987 and 2012, and officials expect large crowds with possible traffic and transit strain that could affect travel to Marin County.
