Overview
- The SFMTA has scheduled rolling street closures that start at 9 p.m. Saturday and run into mid‑afternoon Sunday, blocking dozens of streets on and near the marathon route.
- Full marathon runners will start near the Ferry Building and cross the Golden Gate Bridge into Marin before returning through the Presidio, Golden Gate Park, the Haight and the Mission to finish at Rincon Park, with the first wave leaving about 5:15 a.m. Sunday.
- Both east and west sidewalks on the Golden Gate Bridge will be closed in the early morning hours with a free shuttle for cyclists while vehicle traffic remains open on the bridge.
- Many Muni routes will face delays, reroutes or temporary suspensions and SFMTA has published maps, schedules and 311 guidance; BART and Caltrain will not run special early trains and BART begins normal Sunday service at 8 a.m.
- Organizers expect more than 30,000 participants and officials warn that concurrent BART track work and neighborhood festivals this weekend could compound disruptions for residents, businesses and visitors so planners should use posted detours or alternative routes.
