- The agency also urges people to text “lost” to 858-SAN-LOST, contact microchip companies if applicable, and post clear photos and basic details to neighborhood and social platforms to speed recoveries.
- Last year the shelter took in 253 stray pets between July 4 and July 7 and only 33% were reclaimed, a record the society cited to explain why the fee waiver and real-time outreach are being used now and what effect they hope to achieve.
