San Bernardino Detective Shot During Warrant Service in Antelope Valley

Los Angeles County homicide detectives are assisting an active probe while officials withhold identities and key details about the shooting.

  • The shooting took place in a remote Littlerock/Palmdale area in the 13000 block of East Avenue R around 3:10–3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, when deputies were reported to be serving a search warrant.
  • A San Bernardino County detective was struck by gunfire and airlifted to Antelope Valley Medical Center where officials say he is in stable condition.
  • The person who fired was pronounced dead at the scene and authorities have not released the suspect’s name or the cause of death.
  • Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives have joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in processing a large rural crime scene that was shown in aerial footage with numerous law-enforcement vehicles and taped-off property.
