Samsung Widens One UI 8.5 Beta to More Galaxy Phones With AirDrop-Style Sharing

The expansion offers cross-platform sharing plus critical security fixes for those opting into test builds.

Overview

  • The beta now reaches the Galaxy S23 family, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy S23 FE and, for the first time, the A-series via the Galaxy A36 5G.
  • Access is limited to select markets, with reports citing India, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States, and enrollment runs through the Samsung Members app.
  • Quick Share gains AirDrop compatibility to move files between Galaxy and Apple devices, with support in beta for S25, S24 and recent Fold and Flip models and native support on S26 phones.
  • Photo Assist adds a scrollable edit history so users can try versions without saving each step, and Storage Share lets Galaxy devices, PCs and recent Samsung TVs browse each other’s files over Wi‑Fi.
  • April’s security update is rolling out inside or alongside the beta with 14 critical fixes including a Google patch for a wider Android flaw, as testers weigh instability risks and reports of S25 delays before a stable release.
