Samsung Starts Mass Production of PM1763 PCIe 6.0 SSD for Nvidia’s Vera Rubin

Higher throughput, direct-to-chip liquid cooling and quantum-resistant encryption target storage bottlenecks for large AI systems, raising the risk of tighter global NAND supply from Vera Rubin deployments.

  • Samsung began mass production of the PM1763 enterprise SSD on July 7, rolling out commercial volumes of its first PCIe 6.0 drive for AI and HPC servers.
  • The PM1763 is offered in 4TB, 8TB and 16TB models and the 16TB delivers up to 28,400 MB/s read and 21,900 MB/s write speeds, which Samsung says can move a 40GB LLM in about 1.4 seconds.
