Samsung Rolls Out May 2026 Wear OS Security Patch to Galaxy Watch 8 and 7

Fixing 39 Android and One UI vulnerabilities, some rated critical, the update leaves wider rollout timing to older models and other regions unannounced.

Overview

  • Samsung has begun a staged rollout in South Korea for the May 2026 Wear OS firmware to the Galaxy Watch 8 (build ending AZE1) and Galaxy Watch 7 (build ending BZE1).
  • The package addresses 39 security flaws across Android/Wear OS and Samsung’s One UI layer, with several issues classified as critical and others as moderate.
  • Owners can install the update through the Samsung Wearable app by going to Watch settings → Watch software update, and the watch will reboot to complete installation.
  • Samsung expects the release to expand to older models such as the Watch 6, Watch 5, and Watch 4 and to more regions, but the company has not given a schedule for that wider rollout.
  • This release follows Samsung’s quarterly firmware cadence and also includes routine maintenance like system cache cleaning and reliability fixes that should improve day‑to‑day performance and reduce security risk for users.
