Samsung Launches Galaxy A57 and A37 in Brazil as Wallet Gains Tap-to-Pay Pix

Samsung is tying midrange phones to a Pix tap feature to win share in a country where Pix dominates payments.

Overview

  • Samsung, which launched the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G in Brazil on Wednesday, set starting prices at R$ 3,599 and R$ 3,299 with sales now under way.
  • Samsung Wallet’s Pix by proximity begins rolling out on April 17, enabling contactless Pix payments inside the Wallet with biometric or password checks.
  • The new Pix feature will reach 101 Samsung models and will include discount coupons for users who pay with it between April 22 and May 2.
  • Both phones ship with Android 16 and One UI 8.5 and promise six years of updates, adding voice transcription, voicemail‑to‑text, object removal in photos, and links to Gemini and Perplexity with a smarter Bixby.
  • Samsung is pairing the launch with carrier offers and accessory bundles as Pix now leads payments in Brazil and Apple Pay still lacks native Pix support.
