Samsung Launches Galaxy A27 5G With Punch-Hole AMOLED and Six Years of Updates

Samsung is bringing Galaxy AI and six years of Android updates to a mid-range phone that pairs a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with lower-cost component choices.

Overview

  • Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy A27 5G and set pricing at €349 in Europe and $349.99 in the U.S., with sales starting in select markets on July 3 and in the U.S. on July 14.
  • The phone ships with a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display at up to 120Hz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, 5,000mAh battery with 25W wired charging, and options for 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB, and 8GB/256GB plus microSD expansion.
  • Samsung is including a suite of Galaxy AI features such as multi-object Circle to Search, improved Object Eraser, and Voice Transcription, and it guarantees up to six major Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates.
  • The A27 makes several trade-offs versus the A26 and other A-series models: it drops to IP64 splash resistance, uses a 5MP ultrawide and 12MP selfie sensor (down from higher-res units), and launches $50 above last year’s A26 with limited U.S. color availability.
  • The product positions Samsung to push premium software down the lineup, but its higher price and spec downgrades could hurt value against internal rivals like discounted A37 deals and competitive mid-range phones, so consumer choice will hinge on priorities for updates, display, or cameras.
