Samsung Halts One UI 8 for Galaxy S23 and Pauses S24 in Korea

Update files were pulled without explanation, with S25, A73, Tab S9 and Galaxy Watch continuing to receive new builds.

Overview

  • PC-WELT, citing Sammy Fans and X user Koram Akhilesh, reports Samsung withdrew One UI 8 firmware for the Galaxy S23 worldwide after about three weeks of rollout.
  • Chip.de reports Samsung paused the One UI 8 release for Galaxy S24 models in South Korea and removed update files from servers, blocking OTA and Smart Switch installs there.
  • A consolidated status shows Z Fold SE distribution resumed, S22 updates partially resumed, S23 paused, S24 paused in Korea and M53 paused, with no official reason provided.
  • Parallel rollouts continue elsewhere, including One UI 8 for the Galaxy A73 starting in India and Southeast Asia, Android 16 for the Galaxy Tab S9 family and One UI 8 Watch based on Wear OS 6 launching first in South Korea with new health tools and interface tweaks.
  • Samsung’s October support changes took effect for older midrange phones, ending updates for the Galaxy A03s, A52s, F42 5G and M32 5G, while the Galaxy S21 FE moves from monthly to quarterly security updates with one Android 16 upgrade expected per reporting.
