Samsung Ends Sales of Galaxy Z TriFold After Three Months

Samsung casts the brief run as a limited showcase shaped by high costs, manufacturing complexity, and niche distribution.

Overview

  • Samsung will halt TriFold sales in South Korea first, then end U.S. sales once remaining inventory is sold, according to a company spokesperson.
  • The triple-panel device launched in December at 3.59 million won (about $2,899) and was positioned as a niche, limited-edition engineering showcase.
  • Reported production was very small—about 4,000 units for Korea and fewer than 30,000 shipped internationally—with distribution limited to Samsung’s own channels.
  • Samsung’s site now lists the TriFold as sold out, though buyers have recently found a few units in Samsung Experience stores in Texas and New York.
  • COO Won-Joon Choi said no decision has been made on a successor due to manufacturing complexity, while more mainstream foldables such as the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Z Fold 8 and a wider Fold are expected later this year.
