Samsung Begins Global One UI 8.5 Rollout to Recent Galaxy Devices

The staggered release shows Samsung bringing S26‑style tools with stronger security to existing phones without new hardware.

Overview

  • Samsung's One UI 8.5, which began a Korea launch on May 6, started a wider rollout Monday to the US, Europe and Asia.
  • The Galaxy S25 series is receiving the stable update in the US with build S93*SQU9CZDP, a roughly 4.4GB download for users on One UI 8.0.
  • Foldables and earlier flagships are joining in stages, with Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 live in parts of Europe and India and stable builds for the S24 and Z Fold 6 now out in Korea.
  • New features include Quick Share transfers with Apple AirDrop, a redesigned Quick Panel, a floating tab bar in Samsung apps, Bixby upgraded with Perplexity, and Galaxy AI tools like Call Screening and Creative Studio.
  • Rollout pacing and content will vary, with some builds skipping the May 2026 security patch and some AI tools limited on older models, so users should check Settings > Software update over the next few weeks.
