- Android Authority’s teardown of Samsung’s AI Core app Thursday surfaced the MT6993 ID, hinting that the Galaxy Tab S12 line is being readied with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500.
- The Dimensity 9500 uses TSMC’s 3nm process with an octa-core CPU led by a high-speed C1-Ultra core and an Arm Mali-G1 Ultra MC12 GPU for strong performance and better power use.
- The app files also point to Galaxy AI tools including generative photo editing, image expansion, AI wallpaper creation, and a Harmonization control that evens out lighting, color, and contrast in edits.
- Reports say the chip holds up well in long gaming sessions with cooler temperatures than some rivals, which could make the Tab S12+ and S12 Ultra attractive for gaming.
- Samsung used MediaTek chips in the Tab S10 and S11 families, though any Tab S12 specs and the Dimensity 9500 pairing are still unconfirmed by the companies.
