Overview
- Samsung confirmed on July 22 that Samsung Wallet will include native stablecoin functionality and showed a mockup denominated in USDC with send, receive and top-up controls.
- The company has not named which stablecoins will be supported, which blockchains will be used, whether Samsung or a third party will custody assets, or when and where the feature will roll out.
- Samsung said Wallet financial features will be protected by its Knox security layer with end-to-end encryption, but did not link the preview to its Blockchain Keystore or explain how keys and recovery will work.
- The announcement follows Samsung’s October 2025 Coinbase integration and a May 2026 purchase of a combined 4% stake in Dunamu, and Samsung’s shares fell about 7.6% after the Unpacked preview.
- Regulators and market participants will watch custody, redemption and network choices because those technical and legal decisions will shape user protections, regional availability and which stablecoin issuers gain default distribution inside Wallet.
