Overview
- A software update is rolling out to U.S. 2024 Family Hub models this week, with ads expected to appear starting Nov. 3 when the refrigerator is idle.
- The Cover Screen gains a rectangular widget that cycles information and promotions roughly every 10 seconds, and the new Daily Board includes one ad tile among five.
- Samsung says the placements are contextual rather than personalized, and initial campaigns will promote Samsung products only.
- Owners can dismiss individual ads for the duration of a campaign or turn off advertising in Settings, which currently disables all widgets.
- Ads are enabled by default, do not show when art or album themes are active, and will appear on the fridges’ 21.5- or 32-inch displays in models priced about $1,899 to $3,499.
