Sam Smith Announces Fifth Album 'Hazel Eyes' and Releases Lead Single

The New York–shaped, deeply personal record is collaborator-driven and will be previewed during Pride-week performances.

Overview

  • Smith announced on Wednesday that Hazel Eyes will be released on August 21 via Capitol Records and published a 12-track list for the album.
  • The campaign launched with the single “My Guy,” which Smith co-wrote with Feist and Shahzad Ismaily and which features harmony contributions from Feist and Moses Sumney.
  • Smith co-produced the record with Simon Aldred and David Odlum, saying the project was written over more than three years and partly recorded at Electric Lady Studios in New York.
  • The rollout follows Smith’s To Be Free residency, where several Hazel Eyes songs were previewed and surprise guests appeared, and Smith is scheduled to perform at the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center on June 26 to kick off Pride weekend.
  • Hazel Eyes follows Smith’s 2023 album Gloria and leans on a small group of recurring collaborators while exploring a mix of baroque pop, British folk, outlaw country and left-field R&B.
