Salvador, Petrópolis and Saquarema Stage Weekend 'Novembro Azul' Prostate Screening Drives

The push targets hard-to-reach men by reducing barriers to early prostate cancer detection.

Overview

  • In Salvador, OSID's Unacon will hold a free screening mutirão on Saturday (29) from 7 a.m. with 80 walk-in slots for men 45+, requiring photo ID, CPF, SUS card and proof of residence.
  • The Salvador effort includes risk assessments and in-clinic evaluations with exams such as the digital rectal exam, offered on a first-come basis at the unit's ambulatory entrance.
  • Petrópolis will run a Day D on Saturday (29) from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. across 34 health units with medical and nursing care, rapid tests and PSA testing provided via Hospital Alcides Carneiro for pre-booked patients in partnership with CTO and Laboratório de Corrêas.
  • On Sunday (30), Petrópolis hosts the Movimento Azul on Avenida Tiradentes in front of the cathedral with health services, vaccinations and an antique car display.
  • Saquarema will hold a Day D on Saturday (29) from 8 a.m. to noon at six ESF units offering consultations, preventive exams and vaccinations, as the city reports about 379 people served in campaign actions this month and 2,995 visits to its Men's and Seniors' Clinic since July.
