Salmonella Risk Prompts Recalls of California Eggs and Doughy Cookie Dough in 15 States

  • Veg Farms of Dixon, California, pulled egg lots with handler code 2136 and sell-by dates of December 22 or earlier, including Julian dates 328 or earlier.
  • State officials say the eggs were distributed to restaurants and farmers markets within roughly 25 miles of the farm, including Sacramento and Davis, and have been removed from sale.
  • A company spokesperson said processing equipment, not the flock, contaminated about 1,515 dozen eggs, and no illnesses have been reported.
  • Hudson River Foods recalled 113 twelve-ounce tubs of Doughy chocolate chip edible cookie dough (Best By July 4, 2026) shipped to customers in 15 states including California, New York, and Texas.
  • The FDA classified the Doughy recall as Class I on December 5, and authorities advise consumers to discard or return affected products and follow hygiene steps to prevent cross-contamination.
