Overview
- On Friday, Aug. 21, 2026, a Macomb County judge accepted Casada Sorrell’s no-contest plea and sentenced him to six months of non-reporting probation.
- The sentence included three days of jail credit for time already served, required random drug testing, and barred Sorrell from possessing weapons during probation.
- Prosecutors say the charge grew from a January 2025 Sterling Heights traffic stop when officers found a bag of pills later identified as oxycodone hydrochloride and acetaminophen for which Sorrell had no valid prescription.
- Sorrell was arrested again on a felony drug warrant in April 2025 and at one point sought entry into Macomb County’s drug court but withdrew a scheduled plea after being denied admission to the program.
- Absent the plea deal, possession of a Schedule II drug like oxycodone without a prescription can carry much harsher penalties in Michigan, and prosecutors framed the case as part of efforts to curb illicit narcotics in the community.
