Saber Confirms ‘Knights of the Old Republic’ Remake Is Still in Development

No release window or new details accompanied the confirmation.

Overview

  • Saber Interactive chief creative officer Tim Willits told IGN the remake remains in development and declined to share further information.
  • The project was announced in 2021 for PlayStation 5 and PC and later faced reported setbacks in 2022 that led to a handoff from Aspyr to Saber subsidiary Mad Head Games.
  • The game has not been shown publicly since its initial reveal, and the original announcement video is now listed as private.
  • Rumours of cancellation persisted through 2023 and 2024, including after Saber’s split from Embracer Group, though Willits previously reassured fans that other Saber projects were unaffected.
  • In parallel, Casey Hudson’s separate Star Wars RPG, Fate of the Old Republic, is progressing at Arcanaut Studios, which has hired Pascal Blanché as studio art director.
